Lulu Kennedy, founder and director of Fashion East, a None-For-Profit Talent Incubator, debut the 2024 GTCO fashion weekend masterclass this year. Since founding the fashion east in 2000, she has been rejoined for fostering next-generation creatives and building a community where young talent can thrive. At the Masterclass session she spoke on the theme “Supporting The Next Generation” Lulu’s talked about the competitive fashion industry, how caving a nitch for your brand will give upcoming fashion designers identity,
When asked about the challenges that could deter a young fashionpreneur in the industry, she responded by stating what she went through and how she stumbled into fashion when she was at her lowest. The challenge of being a single mom with a sick and dying mother led her to get creative without wallowing in the situation that could have stopped her drive.
She further said a high note for her in her journey is consistency and commitment to your passion, especially as a creative designer to be distinct from the pull of other designers. Having support from those that believed in her skill made her conquer what she set her mind to.
Lulu Kennedy said she looks forward to working with Nigerian designers, as she was impressed with the collection of work she has seen so far at the GTCO fashion weekend.
She further appreciates GTCO for putting together a fantastic event as the fashion weekend; she was glad to be part of such a creative and incredible event and looks forward to future collaborations with GTCO.
