Jakande Estate Comprehensive senior College Emerges Champion at Paschal Dike Speaking Competition 9.0

Jakande Estate Comprehensive senior College School has emerged as the winner of the 9th edition of the Paschal Dike Speaking Competition (PDSC), held 26th July 2025. The annual event, which gathers top government senior secondary schools from across Lagos State, was organized by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Lagos City and convened by Mr. Paschal Dike, 2016 JCI World President, CEO, Excel 360 Plus Ltd and Dega Multi Concept Ltd.
This year Five schools made it to the final round, competing under the theme “From Protest to Produce: How Youth Can Drive Effective Change in Nigeria.” The finalists included Jakande Estate Comprehensive Senior College (District 1), Tomia Community Senior Secondary School, Agege (District 1), Ajegunle Senior High School, Maryland (District 2), Eletu-Odibo Senior High School, Yaba (District 4), and Oregun Senior High School, Oshodi (District 6).
Jakande Estate Comprehensive senior College, representing District 2, claimed the grand prize of ₦300,000 and two reading tablets, having scored an impressive 195 points across two rounds of presentation . Oregun Senior High School came in second with 175 points and received ₦100,000, while Ajegunle Senior High School secured third place to win #50,000, while the other two schools were rewarded for their effort.
The competition, hosted at Watercrest Hotel, Ikeja, showcased the eloquence, confidence, and advocacy skills of the young participants. The event emphasized that real change in Nigeria does not require permission it demands action and youth involvement in policymaking rather than mere protest.

Marking its ninth consecutive years, the event was graced by past JCI Lagos City presidents from 2021 and 2022, as well as the current 2025 President, JCIN Ambassador Omolola Ayeni, who delivered the welcome address.

Also in attendance were JCI Lagos City members, representatives from other JCI chapters, district education officers from the Lagos State Ministry of Education, and past winners Rasaq Iyiola (2021), Adekoya Ogooluwa (2023), and Olutoki Oyinkansola (2024 )friends and well wishers.
In his closing remarks, convener Paschal Dike emphasized the importance of contributing to youth development. “It is our responsibility to invest in the next generation. As a public speaker, I chose this competition to build the confidence of young Nigerians who will one day be the changemakers this country needs,”
Paschal Dike Public Speaking Competition has continuously given platforms to students from Public secondary schools to discover thei public speaking ability for the past eight years.
