Inauguration of the NAGAFF Trade War Committee, stake to end corruption in Nigeria Port

‎The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders NAGAFF has launched the establishment and inauguration of a strategic committee aimed at confronting and escalating malpractices perpetrated by government agencies and other critical stakeholders.

‎Addressing journalist at a press conference held 6th March 2026 in Lagos The founder of NAGAFF Dr. Boniface Aniebonam a former customs senior officer said the practices directly threaten the cargo documents and clearance with the value chain within the Nigerian port system brought the initiative tagged ” NAGAFF Trade War Committee”

‎This action is in response to the persistent exploitation, corruption which has eaten deep into the system of our country and also the port ,regulatory excesses and operational bottlenecks experienced by traders, importers and freight forwarding practitioners operating within the Nigerian port environment. He stressed the impact of the corruption practices at the port and how it affects the economy of the country.

‎He said the committee is mandated to undertake strategic trade advocacy, operational monitoring policy, intelligence gathering and institutional engagement aimed at addressing systemic inefficiencies and exploration practices affecting port users and logistics operators across Nigeria s international trade ecosystem.

‎Relating to the Renewed Hope Agenda of president Tinubu the Trade War Committee shall function as an independent oversight and advisory platform working closely with higher authorities to provide credible filed intelligence and operational report from activities within Nigerian ports, for things to be better it is a collective responsibility and NAGAFF is ready to take on this course.

‎In conclusion the initiative will furnish the presidency with unfiltered, evidence based insights, supported by documentation also informed policy decisions, regulatory and appointments within the maritime and port governance architecture in line with the national anti-corruption framework.
