Pinkhaven Holds 2026 Sip And Paint Outing For Cancer Warriors

By Temidayo Anthony

PinkHaven Warrior Ladies has held its 2026 Sip and Paint Outing in Lagos, bringing together women who have undergone or are currently undergoing cancer treatment for an evening of fun, reflection, networking, emotional support and creative expression.

The event, which took place on 15th August 2026, provided participants with an opportunity to relax, share their personal experiences and encourage one another.
The organisation is founded by Mrs. Bukola Konkwo, a breast cancer survivor, who explained that establishing PinkHaven was her way of providing support to women undergoing cancer treatment as well as those transitioning into life after treatment. She said that she drew inspiration from her own journey, attributing the support she received from others to aiding their recovery.

She encouraged the participants not to give up, regardless of what their medical reports may indicate, urging them to remain hopeful and resilient throughout their journey.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Adedayo Joseph, a Clinical Oncologist with Medserve, Idi-Araba, Lagos, addressed participants on some of the concerns and challenges associated with cancer treatment, particularly the mental and emotional trauma that patients may experience during and after treatment.

Dr. Joseph stressed the importance of family support for cancer patients, noting that support should continue even after treatment. She also highlighted the importance of support groups in helping patients and survivors cope with the emotional challenges of recovery and rebuilding their lives after treatment.

She encouraged the women, including those still undergoing treatment, to prioritise their mental health, pay close attention to their bodies, keep their follow-up appointments and maintain regular communication with their healthcare providers.

The founder of PinkHaven, Mrs. Konkwo, also urged the women to remain strong and never lose hope, irrespective of the challenges they may encounter during their cancer journey.

Participants subsequently shared their individual experiences, personal cancer journeys, faith and words of encouragement with one another. The session created a safe and supportive atmosphere where the women were able to connect with others who understood their experiences.

As the evening progressed, participants engaged in a painting session, which provided an avenue for relaxation, creativity and emotional expression. The activity added an enjoyable dimension to the event while allowing participants to unwind and connect in a relaxed environment.

Speaking on the outing, participants expressed appreciation to PinkHaven for creating the opportunity to have fun, network, share experiences and connect with one another outside the clinical environment.

The 2026 Sip and Paint Outing therefore served not only as a recreational gathering but also as a platform for emotional support, awareness and community building, reinforcing the importance of hope, family support, support groups and continued care throughout the cancer journey.
