NSCDC Seeks Collaboration Of NUJ to strengthen security in Anambra state

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command says it will collaborate with the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) in the State to sensitise the public on its activities in the State.

The State Commandant, Mr Everestus C. Obiyo JP+ stated this today, Friday, 11th February, 2022 when he received in audience the newly inaugurated Executive Committee (Exco) members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council led by the Chairman Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu on a courtesy visit at the State Command Headquarters Awka.

Comdt. Obiyo described NUJ as a strong stakeholder in the security architecture in order to showcase to the public the successes and achievements the command had made. He called on NUJ to work closely with the command, and exchange information to help in curtailing the activities of criminals saying his doors would always be open for any inquiry on the operations of the command.

Mr. Obiyo concluded by calling on journalists in the state to report happenings objectively in line with the ethics of the profession promising to discharge the Corps mandate to the admiration and satisfaction of Nigerians.

Earlier, the Chairman of NUJ in the State, Dr Odogwu Emeka, commended NSCDC for diligently protecting Government’s Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, its Fight against petroleum pipeline vandalization and the formation of Female Squad for Safe School Initiative by the Commandant General Dr. Abubakar A. Audi mni.

He assured that the union would continue to cooperate with NSCDC to facilitate peace and security in the State. According to Odogwu, journalists like the NSCDC contribute to nation building through timely dissemination of information on happenings in the society to the public. He pledged the unions commitment to give adequate coverage to the activities of the Corps in the State.
