By Temidayo Anthony

The yearly GTCO food and drink festival was nothing short of all-round sumptuous in its usual way of African and intercontinental quizzes, pastries and drinks, entertainment, and more. The event, held from April 26–28, 2024, was the 7th edition of the annual festival, held at the heart of Oniru Water Cooperation Way, Lagos. With thousands of fun seekers and food lovers in attendance, it lived up to its yearly peak of delicacies.

The food and drink festival is GTCO’s way of giving back to society by choosing the food and drink sector, which is an art that cuts across tribes and barriers. It’s also a way of supporting the small and medium-scale businesses in Nigeria, bringing the delicacies we love to the forefront.

12 masterclasses took place over the course of the 3-day festival, with international chefs teaching the art of cookery and baking.

The introduction of Kids Baking Masterclass, which debuted with Chef Uche Annie Uzoka teaching the exceptional skill in pastries and desert making to the anticipating and excited audience of kids, was remarkable. The kids were held spellbound as they learned from the master ways to create art in the kitchen.

Like never before, this year witnessed an increase in the number of vendors that participated in displaying their goods and services, from 150 to 250 vendor stands, as well as local Nigerian street food like Bole.

Roasted corn, Garri yoyo, Abacha, and roasted yam were on display, and there was also a section for any kind of grill. Typical foods like Amala, Gbegri and ewedu, swallows of all sorts with assorted meat, jollof, and fried rice were not left out, as were drinks and juices, pastries, and lots of unforgettable fun at this year’s GTCO food and drink festival.
