The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) Advocacy Team has commended the level of innovation and automation introduced at the Rolling Grazing Bonded Terminal in Ijanikin, Lagos, describing it as a model that could enhance seamless cargo operations in Nigeria.
The team, led by NAGAFF Founder, Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam during an assessment visit to the facility on Thursday, June 11, 2026, inspected the terminal’s operations and expressed satisfaction with the technology-driven systems deployed to support trade activities.
Addressing journalists after the visit, Mr. Boniface said the terminal represents a new phase in cargo handling, with e-commerce automation fully integrated into its operations. He noted that the facilities available at the terminal demonstrate that bonded terminals should serve as transit points rather than storage locations, adding that such infrastructure would encourage efficiency and improve business operations.
He said “Ports are not storage areas, but transit areas. You can see the facilities already in place here, and these people are ready for business,”
The NAGAFF founder explained that the ongoing assessment of bonded terminals across the country is aimed at identifying facilities that meet international standards and making appropriate recommendations to the government. He expressed concern over challenges affecting cargo movement, particularly issues surrounding transit applications and cargo tracking, but praised the terminal’s tracking system, which he said provides better monitoring of goods transported from the mother ports to bonded facilities. According to him, the terminal’s dedicated trucks and monitoring technology would help reduce cases of missing cargo and improve accountability throughout the logistics chain. He added that with proper support and encouragement from relevant authorities, facilities like the Ijanikin bonded terminal could contribute significantly to improving Nigeria’s trade environment and port efficiency.
