Polaris Bank has strengthened its commitment to youth empowerment, education, financial literacy, and social responsibility by supporting the Media Practitioners’ Capacity Building Programme held on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

The programme, organized by the Nigerian Online Media Alliance (NOMA), a coalition of digital media publishers and journalists, was held to mark the 2026 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

As part of its contribution to the success of the initiative, Polaris Bank provided branded support items, including cable chargers, water bottles, umbrellas, piggy banks, and mathematical sets for journalists, participants, and students.

The distributed items served both practical and educational purposes, with the piggy banks promoting a savings culture and financial discipline among young people, while the mathematical sets were provided to encourage academic development and learning among students.

The programme, themed “Responsible Media, Drug-Free Nigeria: The Journalist’s Role in Prevention and Advocacy,” was organized by NOMA in partnership with the International Society of Substance Use Prevention and Treatment Professionals (ISSUP Nigeria), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba.

Chairperson of NOMA, Theresa Moses, commended Polaris Bank for its support, describing the partnership as a demonstration of commitment to education, youth development, community growth, and national progress.

“We are sincerely grateful to Polaris Bank for supporting this important programme with branded gift items. Beyond their practical value, these items represent the bank’s commitment to education, financial literacy, youth development, and social impact,” she said.

The event brought together media practitioners, executives, public health professionals, policymakers, anti-drug advocates, students, and representatives of government agencies to discuss the role of responsible journalism in preventing substance abuse and combating illicit drug trafficking.

Through presentations and panel discussions, participants examined how the media can strengthen public awareness, promote prevention strategies, reduce stigma, and support efforts toward healthier and safer communities.

Polaris Bank’s involvement reflects its continued focus on corporate social responsibility initiatives centred on education, financial inclusion, youth empowerment, and community development.

By supporting the NOMA capacity-building programme, the bank reaffirmed its belief that awareness, education, and collaboration among stakeholders are key to building a drug-free Nigeria and empowering citizens to make informed decisions.

Stakeholders at the event applauded Polaris Bank for its investment in initiatives that promote positive social values, while organizers emphasized the importance of partnerships between the private sector and civil society in tackling societal challenges and creating sustainable impact.
