Senator Anthony Adefuye at the event talked about the giant strides of President Mohammed Buhari against the background that he underperformed in comparison to his predecessors. Adefuye took our correspondent through memory lane and asked him to adjudge with the statistics he reeled out.
Adefuye said;
“Buhari is one of the best performing presidents we have in Nigeria. He did not allow people to steal our money. He reduced corruption to the minimum. He allowed people to create freely.
“We have a lot of PDP who moved with us, when they can’t tolerate us, they left. I have not benefitted from him directly but I enjoyed his leadership.
“Lagos state is the only state in Nigeria that is expanding and people are not developing alongside. We must vote people who can make things happen for good for the people.
“Ruling people is an herculean task. Some people will just jump and want to be president. Before we used to have Zik, Awolowo,. Nowadays there are no definite ethnic leaders, we have national leaders
When petroleum was selling at 140 dollar per barrel at the international market, if we compare the money we are getting at that time and the sufferings of the people, you would agree with me that Buhari has tried with limited resources he inherited.
“Lagos is the fastest developing states in Nigeria and Asiwaju started the revolution as Lagos state governor. Everybody started coming to Lagos because of the economic advantage he created in Lagos.
“In 1999, I was in PDP. I can tell you more about the party. Obasanjo stopped allocation to Lagos state, Tinubu as a governor continued.
“He makes sure he gave money to those local governments. I can tell you authoritatively he has won the election. Nobody is competing with him.
“Obasanjo said the money Atiku stole from Nigeria is enough to feed all Nigerians. Peter Obi is fighting for Biafra, he is also fighting to be the President.
“These are the things we have to consider, unless we defeat ourselves nobody can defeat APC.
“The 2nd Niger bridge has been moribund for so long but Buhari completed it with meagre resources. We used to have Nigerian Airways during the PDP administration, it disappeared. Railway disappeared. No water transportation in Lagos during PDP’s term.
“These are his creations. The blue rail has been tested and we still have the Red rail. These red rail and blue rail started by Fashola but Ambode abandoned it and now completed by Sanwo Olu”. Adefuye said.
