The students of Gulf Flower International Schools Lagos has urged the federal government to be proactive and develop new strategies to tackle insecurity, and win the hearts of the citizens, especially the Nigerian youths.
Speaking on behalf of her colleagues, who stepped forward to present a paper, on Wednesday at the one day National Security Conference of the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island Lagos, Adeboyejo Omotoyosi noted that the level of insecurity in the country had reached an alarming level.
According to her, youths across the country were tired of what she described as the mindless killing of innocent Nigerians by terrorists on daily basis.
She further urged the authorities to reignite their interest for education and security with firm resolute actions aimed at tackling the nation’s security challenges.
She said: “Our stand is that the federal government needs to be more proactive in dealing with growing spate of insecurity in the country as we cannot continue to witness such mindless killing of Nigerians in their numbers on a daily basis.
“We say today that enough is enough and urge the security agencies to sit up. We have heard so many words without action from the government, what we demand now is an end to the massacre of Nigerians under whatever guise”.
“We also call on federal government to channel robust funds to education sector in 2023 budget in order to end the incessant ASUU strike action”.
Speaking on parental care, Adeboyejo also called on parents and guardians to give adequate attention to their children and wards at home to dissuade them from joining bad gangs and cult groups.
She noted that failure of parents to check activities of their children will result to more crimes in the society.
The NAOSNP Security Conference is a yearly fiesta of security bigwigs united to find a roadmap to lingering security challenges towards proffering an enduring solution. This year’s conference drew the likes of former Military Governor of Old Imo State, General Ike Nwachukwu, AIG in charge of Zone 2, Adeleke Bode, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi among a hosts of others.
