Veteran Journalist, Kolade-Otitoju To Deliver Keynote Address At NOMA Conference

The Director of Current Affairs, TVC Communications and an investigative journalist cum historian, Babajide Kolade-Otitoju, will on Thursday deliver a key note address at the Nigeria Online Media Alliance (NOMA) forthcoming Media Practitioners’ Capacity Building Programme on Responsible Reporting and Substance Abuse Prevention.
NOMA, is a coalition of digital media publishers and journalists committed to promoting ethical journalism, media development, and impactful public advocacy across Nigeria.
Babajide Kolade-Otitoju, one of Nigeria’s most accomplished journalists and media executives, and widely regarded as one of the most influential voices in contemporary Nigerian journalism, has built an exceptional career spanning over three decades in print and broadcast media.
As a result, he has earned a reputation for fearless investigative reporting, intellectual depth, editorial excellence, and unwavering commitment to the public interest.
A historian by training, Kolade-Otitoju graduated from the Department of History, University of Ilorin, in 1989. His academic foundation in history has remained evident throughout his career, shaping his analytical approach to national issues, public policy, governance, and security affairs.
His ability to place contemporary events within historical context has distinguished him as one of Nigeria’s most respected commentators and public affairs analysts especially as an analyst on “Journalist Hangout on TVC. ”
With an indepth journey in the journalism profession, he began with the Democrat Newspaper in Kaduna, where he worked between 1991 and 1992. In February 1993, he joined TheNEWS Magazine Group as a pioneer member of staff and was deployed to Kano as State Correspondent.
Int was during this period that his courage and commitment to truth became evident. Despite threats and difficult reporting conditions, he covered sensitive religious and political developments, establishing himself as a journalist who was prepared to pursue facts regardless of the risks involved.

His exceptional performance earned him rapid advancement within TheNEWS organisation. In August 1999, he became Editor of PM NEWS, one of Nigeria’s most influential evening newspapers. Under his leadership, the publication expanded its reach and influence, maintaining a reputation for breaking news, investigative reporting, and public-interest journalism.
In 2005, he was appointed Editor of TheNEWS Magazine, one of Nigeria’s most respected news magazines. His tenure further strengthened the publication’s standing as a leading source of investigative journalism, political analysis, and national discourse.
Following a distinguished sixteen-year career as a title editor, Kolade-Otitoju made a successful transition to broadcast journalism when he joined TVC Communications on May 30, 2013, as Home News Editor.
He was tasked with strengthening the station’s local news operations and transforming its coverage of national events. His impact was immediate and far-reaching. Under his leadership, TVC News significantly expanded its news-gathering capacity and enhanced its reputation for timely, accurate, and impactful reporting.
In October 2014, he became the pioneer Head of Station of TVC News Nigeria. Through strategic leadership, innovation, and dedication to excellence, he guided the station through a highly competitive media environment and helped establish it as one of Nigeria’s most influential television news platforms. His contributions were instrumental in TVC Communications winning the prestigious Nigerian Media Merit Award (NMMA) Television Station of the Year Award in 2018, a landmark achievement for the organisation.
Presently, he serves as Director of Current Affairs at TVC Communications, where he oversees some of the network’s most influential news and current affairs programming.
As part of his efforts in the entrenchment of democracy, he fought the military juntas through his writings. He was recently honoured by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the events marking Democracy Day.
